Just FYI.
I think most people get block foam for SUPs. Marko recently started molding EPS for SUPs. I’ve been making some rediculously thick shortboards, that don’t fit into any molded EPS or PU foam and they just cut the SUP blank in half, and cut my shortboard from it.
Of course you can get block foam from a lot of places and I sometimes do get block foam, but molded EPS is better…yes it costs more. Fusing smaller batches of EPS beads, ensures that a higher percentage of the beads are actually fused. Better fusion = easier to sand = less beads fall out = less voids to fill = lighter board and better bond.
Marko currently has SUP blanks in 1.25lb and 1.5lb. In a couple weeks they will have 1lb. Their 1lb foam is reeeallly good.
I haven’t gotten the 1lb in the SUP blank yet, but I got it in the 6’2 thick mold a few times and it was the best foam I’ve ever had. Hands down.
