Mask Attachment for Snot?

As soon as I put my mask on, my nose starts running. Hard. Does anyone else have this problem? Any thoughts as to why this is happening (I check the seal every time, and nothing is getting into the mask)? Solutions? Also, thanks for all the help, Swaylockers. I’m putting the finishing touches on my first board–6’10" single fin egg. Ugly as hell, but I’m hooked. Cheers, SWF

Cheers, SWF yesterday I saw an ‘ancient’ mask with a BIG alu cilinder for a filter that had something that looked like a ‘snotcatcher’. It’s a tongue shaped extension right under the mouth on the lowest part of the mask. That way it’ll catch condense (and snot [smile] ) I can try to take a picture of it if you like? Martijn

My guess is that your allergic to some material in the mask or you have microscopic dust in the mask. You could try some antihistamines or whatever they call it and see if it helps. regards, Håvard

Somethings are just hard to explain. Like why I have to fart everytime I’m in a library!

Cheers, SWF The masks I use for sanding and painting ( 3m #8511) have a metal strip that molds across the bridge of your nose to seal the mask. The pressure it applies has a tendency open your sinus cavities and that causes the runny nose. Aloha Kokua

Aloha Kokua …not me I get a clogged/stuffy nose when I use a mask.Probably due to a childhood broken nose.Herb

Geez, after reading all these threads, I don’t know if I should wear one. It almost sounds like they cause more problems…Perhaps I’ll wear one if I go into a library that Tuna is in. Seriousldy, past the fart jokes…3M makes a good mask…use organic filters etc. If you have facial hair, a tight seal may not be accomplished… Please everyone, let’s keep the snot out of the masks…and never, I mean never, never share a mask noW!!!
