I’ve just finished viewing the Damascus production of Master Shaper II featuring Jim Phillips. The team has struck gold again with another masterpiece. The amount of passion and dedication revealed in the DVD is incredible. I know what it takes to build a board but after viewing the program I have a much greater appreciation for the lifetime of experience that goes into each shape. Not only does Jim provide instruction on layout and shape a shorter board, but you also get fin layout info, rocker, template cleanup, wood work from plank to finished shape and the tools it takes to get it all done.

The message that Jim passes on is

selfless, simple and straightforward; he wants each viewer to have a

rewarding experience shaping boards. “Happy shaping and happy surfing.”

DVD is awesome, rec’d my copy a few weeks ago. All techniques can be transposed over to longboards as well. Keep’on shaping

P.S. when will you be returning to Oahu, I’ll tow you and family out to some hot spots to surf!

Howzit Manoa!

Plan to come back to the islands over spring break, when the kids are out of school. Don’t have exact dates yet but am working on it… Would love to get together for a surf and to see your fishboard!

I too will be there over spring break. April 1st - April 10th + or - a few days. I’ll be in Haleiwa staying with friends. We should get together if it all works out.

Howzit Kokua, still no word on fgh. One of my buddies received blanks a couple of weeks ago (longboard blanks). Hope is all we can do for now.

Well as it turns out we are going to Kauai this time (my in-laws are going there so its a family committment thing). I will be there April 6-13th.

So - maybe one Sways get together on Oahu and a different one on Kauai? synchronicity…

I wana be there again! And early April (right about the time of UH finals, AMHIK) is the best month for a smooth Town south swell. Could be… epic, could also be nearly flat. We’ll see you then.
