Matching the color of old foam

What technique do most people use to get a ding fill to match the color of old foam. I cannot seem to get a color match not matter how much mixing of colors I do. Any suggestions?

Heh… yeah, when the foam is a little brown and all?

Add instant coffee, one grain at a time, to your resin/cabosil mix until the color is about right. Doesn’t need much, you can dissolve the Taster’s Choice in acetone and do it drop by drop. Was doing a quick and dirty repair on an old board one morning and the only paper cup I could find was one that had had black codffee in it, used it and it came out well.

hope that’s of use

Awesome doc thanks.

De nada, man, just remember a little brown tint goes a long way.

It’s like adding hot sauce to soup: you want to start with just a little, you can always add a drop more but you can’t get it out if there’s too much. It doesn’t really change color a lot as the mix hardens, so go a touch lighter than an exact mix and you’ll be fine.

good luck
