I was at the C.I. shop today with a shaping buddy checking out the Merrick fish and quad fish. It was interesting to us that the two boards were pretty similar.
The quad version however has a thinner tail, but the strange part to me was that the fins on the quad are close to the rails, yet the back fins are maybe an inch closer to the stringer and n right behind the front. There is also a single concave that seems to run the length of the board into about 1/2 inch of tail rocker, and the fins are definitley placed accordingly. Both fins look like they might be toed in up to 1/4". The first thing that comes to mind is that obviously Al had something up his sleeve and has probably tested out various clusters. I haven’t heard of anyone who has ridden one yet.
I prefer to space those back fins a little closer together about 2" from the front fins with a narrower tail myself.
Anyone know anything about this wide tail four fin?
This board don’t seem to be on the C.I. websight just yet and Im not sure if the boards are in other store besides Santa Barbara.
