Mess up on resin swirl

I just did a foam resin swirl and i forgot to add catalyst to it. Will it still work if i glass the board with uv resin over top of the foam swirl. Will there be any future problems

I’d give it a go, maybe a thin catalysed smear over the top first, I don’t think it will cause any major problems…

Someone else might pipe in here too…

Hi Retrobuilder,

I’ve never used UV resin but something happened similarly to my first board. I lammed the bottom with too little catalyst (which I didn’t know at the time) I kept scratching my head why it wasn’t going off and the smell of poly resin was just too much. I figured I must have botched the measurements. I just layed down a hotcoat over it and it has been good ever since. HTH.

I think this is good that it happened on the foam and not on the glass. I think as mentioned you could do a clear catalyzed cheater of lam and work it a bit with the squeegee. Shouldn’t mud out your color, but do it clean with no globs left anywhere then just glass it. Should be fine.

I’d do a thinned out, hot, clear coat of MEKP on top, like a super thin cheater coat, before lamming with UV resin.
