Can any one help me track down a surf video featuring Midget Farley surfing Rincon on an old balsa board. I think its called “Hot Generation” but all searches I’ve done have drawn a blank. cheers Gray
You are right about Midget Farrelly being featurerd in Hot Generation - however Midget was into lightweight boards by the time the movie was shot(66/67) - he is riding a stringerless design at the Bells beach contest. No balsa boards and no footage of rincon in that movie though. Hot Generation by Paul Witzig has beein reissued on video a while ago- last year i saw some copies at the longboard grotto… flo
There are two Dale Davis films Striclty Hot and Walk on the Wet Side that have basically the same segment of Midget at Rincon taken about the time he won the 1963 Makaha International meet. Quite an impressive performance at the Con for sure. Also features John Peck, Butch V Artsdalen, Mike Doyle riding the north shore and considering the equipment they had at the time they totally killed it, to me anyway.
