Hi my names Russell im 15 and i’m from cornwall.im making a scaled down longboard (about 7 foot) for my G.C.S.E Final project and i have been told to post a new message here
I was wandering in which ways i could make this Surfboard as good at turning as a short board, this is why i have scaled it down. should i bring the widest point backwards??? .I’ve also made it smaller so i can duck dive it easier. Can anyone help me with some cool ideas??

I got a email from a guy interested in me doing the same sort of thing for him, he sent be an artical on a board called the mini mini, looked like a fat egg or biscut to me, PM my your email address and I’ll fwd it to you.
Cool Russ I’ll fwd it tonight if I get a chance or after the bank hol if I don’t
By any chance Do you know Jamie, he used to work in the green grocers in town, his cousin was working in planet ice last time I heared. How bout Phil up at the Y?
Your first job is to select the correct blank. Look at some blank catalogues and find one that’s as close to your desired length as possible. If you want it to turn easier, but be a bit slower and harder to catch waves, look for something with a bit more rocker. Generally, longboards are flatter and have subtle, “natural” rockers. But if you want a board that makes tighter turns, look for a bit more rocker, or plan to add rocker. As a first-time shaper, you don’t want to be making too many rocker adjustments.
And stay away from EPS for your first board. Go with polyurethane foam. You can glass it with either epoxy or polyester resin, and you can make that decision later, if you like.
There is a gentleman in Cornwall, named Richard Scott, that has made some excellent surfboards. He posts here on Sway’s as Thirdshade. He is well qualified to council you on your design choices. Contact him.
All of my teachers back when I was at school were stamp collectors and train-spotters. What a totally different world it must be down there, with your pasties and cream teas, where everyone is happy and the sun always shines and the design teachers are mega-shapers. One day I’ll up sticks and join you in that glorious land.
i have many a picture but im doing hardcore coursework at the moment trying to find a decent site that tells me a write up of what exactly fcs fins are:s
I took the dimensions from a longboard I was digging at the time and simply scaled down everything with a ratio of my body height, weight, (etc.) to his. The board is a perfect miniture replica, but there are so many other factors involved that I think it’s impossible to simply scale down a board and have it perform remotely like the original.
The closest board I have to a mini longboard is one shaped by Walden called the Mini-Magic.
This little board is a gem. I ride it with a nine inch Single Fin, lot’s of fun. Wish it had a glass-on fin without the side bites and it would be perfect.
Here are the specs: 7’6" x 19 1/2" x 21 3/4" x 14 1/2" x 2 5/8"
