Minisimmons keel fin size

I’m in the process of shaping my third mini. This one is the shortest of the three at five o. My question is should I make these keels with a longer base for more control and drive? My first one was six o the keels are eight inch base. I make my own keels with birch ply. Thanks for any help

Here’s the mini simmons keel template I make

~Brian

Thanks Brian. That’s what I’m after

Ive done 2 mini simmons now. The 1st one was a 6'0 and the keels I made were 9" base by 5" deep similar template to what Brian posted. The 2nd one was a 5'5" and the I used a similar template but they were 8.5" base by 4.25" deep i made them smaller cause for some reason I thought the ones on the 1st borad were probably a bit big. On the smaller ones i have found the board slides out a bit on steeper waves especially on take off and also they dont have quite as much drive "this could be in part casued by the shorter rail line on the board as well but im blaming the keels for now".. in any case I plan making another set of 9" x 5" to put on the smaller board. Just need to finish foiling them.

Thanks. That’s where I’m going with mine. Little bigger template

For a twin simmons, do i use two double foiled fins?
