I was curious about mixing some gloss coat resin in with the sanding coat resin. Would this cause any problems? I just figured that it might help get a lil better finish without having to do a extra coat. I usually just do hot coat then sand up to 600 then polish to get by. It is decently shiny but i know the diff between a real gloss. I guess i should just try it and find out. Just didnt know if it would weaken the coat or not mix right or something. Safe?? or stupid?? Thanks for any input… John C
I don’t think you would accomplish anything by mixing the resin. If you are going to polish a hotcoat just use the cheaper resin. R.B.
Thanks cleanlines. Maybe ill just stick to the way im doin it. Just had a thougt that it might bring a lil bit more shine to it. it was just a thought. thank you
what’s stronger…gloss resin…or sanding resin?? just curious
Gloss resin has a higher barcol rating (harder) and is typically brittle. Sluggo
Maybe I’m doing it wrong but I get real good results by polishing out my hot coats. I never use Gloss? Should I? I’m just a backyard guy and all I do is Wall Hanger type 60’s restorations. I don’t have any time constraints except for my day job. So, Once all the zits are out I use multiple grades of wet polish with foam pads on my sander. 320, 400, 600, 800, 1500 to 2000 grits. and finish with Pledge. Very, Very Shiny
