modern steve lis 4 fin fish

Anyone ever seen or tried the steve lis modern 4 fin fish. If so what did you think of it and how did it work compared to the keel finned ones. mahalo

I have not seen but am curious as to whether it is like the twinser or more like the quads I have seen on the Mandella website both are billed as very fast.

Shaun it’s more like the quads with the bigger fins up front and the smaller fins in the back.

You may want to check out his site(Mandalas) for feedback.

I was at Surf Ride in Oceanside. I looked at a couple Kane Garden fishes that had twinzers very nice looking boards. not to long ago I found a old 70’s 5-6 fish in the trash near my home…some one painted it with house paint and has many really really bad ding repairs…I am going to strip the paint soon and restore it…I sanded some paint off where I thought there would be a logo but none…Did Steve Lis have a logo? could this be a Steve Lis board?

I got a few shapes from Lis in the 80s, and had them glassed or did it myself. He used a sort of yin/yang Tao symbol. I always saw it drawn in thick soft pencil on the blank itself.

i got these a year ago very fast as waves get longer and hollower

i have been riding 2-4 fin fishes for 30 years as kneeboards i have 2 new lis fishes keel fin and 4 finand 4 rich pavel 4 fin fishes. they are very fast and will work in large waves.getting a lis fish is close to impossible .Toby’s fishes are a kneeboarding and fish devotee mainstay for 20 years now.they are your best bet you can reach him at the greenroom in O.B in san diego–there u go!!! there is no better fish believe me i know.

Howzit Standup, If it was hard to get a Lis fish before it’s even harder now. since Steve got to Kauai he’s shaped a few boards but the problem is getting them glassed. He talked to me about doing some but I’m booked for months with work, and he doesn’t want to use a certain glassing factory due to their not up to par work. But we’ll get them done for him one way or another. We don’t have that many glassers here and the ones we do have are very busy just keeping up with the their own shapers. But as time goes on Steve will get into the loop and things will work out for him.Aloha, Kokua

I agree with Mr.Standup, go to Toby over there in OB. I’ve heard that he learned how to do fish from steve, that just me. Still I own a 6ft keeled fin fish of his and it’s bitchen, head high and down thats what i’m ussually riding. Hell i’d get another one and one for each day of the week plus an extra canard quad for sunday, but my finances say otherwise.

hey Kokua, get your pals a lis they are unreal at that race track bay of yours!!let me know if he wants to part with any ??? i still have never seen anyone go as fast as he was on his fish________________________ Clyde beatty in S.B. really does great glass work and and really wanted to chat with him . Thanks again for the update .i knew he move to kauai with family . i hope he continues to make a few boards!!

PLease post the pic again. Can’t get it to show. thx
