Looks like you’re going the preformed skins route - good choice! It opens a lot of oppertunites that that not obvious.

Finfektion,
Thanks, I’ll keep it in mind I’m pretty much thinking along the wax polish avenue at the mooment, tho. It’ll go quite well with the tray I am making.
Kai,
Sounds like >1 layer might be best in my case then. I don’t fancy trying to get 8’6" x 28" off a tray if it’s at all difficult! But it sounds like 1 layer would be good for fins. I think a wax polish will mitigate the kinds of problem you are talking about (it’s never really gonna get that thick).
DanB,
I think so. The more I think about it the more I like it. It seems like it unfolds a lot of possibilities in my mind. Just preforming one side of each skin seems hugely beneficial to me. One of the hardest parts is choosing the details I keep thinking off different variations and approaches Loving it!
Howzit Honolulu, Years ago I was making hollow boards laid up in molds and we would gloss and polish the boards and apply 2 layers of Mcguires and then spray the mold release on the board. This worked really good and very rarely had any problems. I would suggest going to a boat building company and check out how they float the hulls out of the mold with water. Aloha,Kokua
