Moonlight Rules the Fish Frye!!!

Oh man, there are so freaking many of them. Plus, I got worked so many times in that dumping beachy that my nose is dribbling on the keyboard.

Man, I wish I could have gone. Thanks for posting the photos everyone. Mike

That is soooo cool! Absolutely beautiful boards guys! I love that wood fin quiver too!

How did you like the hess quad?

It seems that a wooden shortboard revolution is unfolding and we are currators of its birth!

Moonlight glassing…top notch boards ,great people.

I spoke with Peter ,JP ,and Sally. It’s hard to belive that they’re just normal folks who are stoked on surfing.

I had a great time. Great to see old swaylocks friends and to connect some more faces to internet names!

Next year we are goinging to set up a Swaylocks area ! (I have an awning)

Share the stoke !

Cool, Keith got a pic of me, I’m in the pic with Manny sitting down, the guy holding the can (LOST was handing out drinks). I demo’d a hanel quad, wow different concept. I didn’t capture that boards speed and use it . . . well lets just say you can’t surf a quad or fish as thruster (even more reason to build your own quiver, as I’m not made out of money).

I got clobbered by OB surf . . . but I did have this sick wave I’ll remember for a long time.

I wish I had more energy to try out more boards, but I had too much fun on Sat . . . and surfed all day. I’m a desk jockey, and since the time switch now I can surf more . . .

Lots of stuff . . . saw Hess’ boards. They are well balanced in terms of weight and shape, comparable to pu board. Beautiful boards . . .

Firewire boards was there, a fish and a shortboard. Man they are the lightest things ever. I was surprised the wind didn’t catch them and blow them away. They came with perimeter stringers (I found out how they got them to bend for the outline, thanks Mark). It seems they were EPS core, perimeter stringers, and glassed with epoxy . . . they didn’t have the balsa like Bert’s boards that were shown at Huntington Contest in 2005 (search for the post). Maybe Firewire is going to have the expensive line have that balsa skin board.

Tons of fishes, I could see the bottoms and foils of many different fishes . . . scoped out bonzer concaves, lots of people there . . . Pretty inspiring.

What was cool was listening to Jeff Clark explain some fin theory.

I see …two , three , four and five fin fishes …

there’s something missing here ! …

Ben I’m taking a stab at all these Q’s:

Thank Maggie for the pics. You gotta see her work here:

http://www.biglike.com/maggie

Can a singlefin be a fish?

I didn’t see that board in the water, but maybe?

That is the Skip Frye stringerless fish circa 72? that is starting to get famous, but no, that isn’t skip. It’s the owner who’s name I forgot because I’m a puttz with names.

Blaxell. Looks like a sticker, bit I dunno.

Those yellow keels were my favorite. I have some video of them, but I don’t know if it turned out or not.

Didn’t meet Bert or even know if he was there. I didn’t talk with the guy with the Firewire either. Wish I had. What does a Bert Berger look like anyway?

I don’t think it was EVER offshore. It was however, fun, dumping, pack a gallon of water in your nasal cavities, beachbreak. Not the best for fish, but fun.

You can’t tell from the pics, but the sun came out around 2 and it turned into a nice summerish day.

Black and white would have been good, definately. Again, if you want to see what she REALLY does, check this out: http://www.biglike.com/maggie The surf though, for once in everyone’s lives, played second fiddle to what was on the beach. It was weird. LOL

We had to split by the time I saw rasta get a few. By the time he got out though, the tide was making it really turn on. FUN peaks. Maggie did get a pic of Daniel Thomson getting SIDEWAYS on a beautiful Swift fish that she is holding off. We are hoping some one with some money (unlike me) wants it!

Whew.

Rob,

you should get some Sway’s award for actually posting enough pictures to make Chip say he’s seen plenty of fish for the year. Stellar work.

That’ll last for about 5 seconds…

Chipfish, are you ready to see the 100 hundred pics I culled?

thanks for the pics!!
