more tiger stripes

i have read through the archives and couldn’t find much on tiger striping. is the base color done first, then stripes after the base has set up?? or vice versa??

stripes and then the base color

i thought so… is it all done in one step? or stripes, let setup, and then base?

Teddy: Mix all of your colors in separate containers, catalyze each. Lay down your stripes then flood with your base tint color. Some notes: UV catalyst cuts down on the rush of doing stripe jobs + you can reuse unused colors, use cheap $1 Store mustard/catsup plastic squeeze bottles as applicators, lift your cloth laps up when you lay down stripes to keep them defined around rail laps. Good luck! Tom S.

Howzit Teddy, are you painting the stripes on? I did 1 last Xmas, I did the Yellow first then did the stripes with brush, they loved it. I just developed some old pics and there’s a couple with the stripes, I’ll post them. Aloha, Kokua

You should also put “Roy’s” severed head on there somewhere.

Teddy, the string method… soak white cotton string in colored/catalyzed resin and let it drain abit before you lay it accross the glass. If you are careful there will be few drips and you can get 3-5 stripes out of a dunking of the string. You can pull the string straight back and forth accross the glass to get some resin worked down into the glass when the string starts to get a little dry. Don’t forget to put it onto the laps too. Stripes first then, while the stripes are still wet, flood remaining glass with resin. don’t get too crazy with trying to make it perfect, even those beautiful cooperfishy’s have some areas where you can see the color run into concaves and off the rails. They still look very nice. Eric J

Howzit Teddy, Poated a pic of tiger stripes, look for resource ID#703 when Mike posts next time. Aloha, Kokua
