i was watching morning of hte earth the otherday at an amigo’s house. how long are the boards they are riding, on average, and how thick are they? they all look around 7 feet, and around 3 inches thick. does this sound right or accurate?
[some more small boards from that era on here … "the stubbie photo " thread ]
from that thread , here’s another Michael Peterson shaped “stubbie”…
"Well, according to the ‘APS3000’ bitmap image that Josh posted [can you please post it again HERE, Josh ? sorry mate, it’s just not readable when I reduced it to 80kbs],
the dimensions are : -
16 1/4" x 5’8 7/8" x 20 " x 15 7/8" x 2 3/4" [now, we just need the pod measurement !]
nose and tail thickness 12 " up is 1 5/8", and 1 15/16" respectively [we also need the nose and tail rocker measurements!]
I CAN tell you on this earlier [c 1969] one of Andy’s, the Joe Larkin ‘ski free’ that Michael Peterson shaped…

… the dimensions are : -
16"n x 5’9" x 20 1/4" x 16"t x 3"thick [c 8" pod]
“c. 3” nose rocker, tail pretty flat"…is what Andy told me…Gil, or Lucas… perhaps you know too ?
okay… hope this helps, KF !

Have fun "

Andy , the owner of the above pictured board , posts here as ‘A.D.68’.
You might like to ‘p.m.’ him , perhaps …he’s a friendly , helpful bloke . (He would probably be stoked someone else was interested in his old boards . hehe )
Have you got any pics of the rocker? I’m looking at making something similar but I’m a bit stumped on what sort of rocker I should put on it. So I’m curious to see your rocker and hear what the rides like and what sort of waves you ride it in.
It’s six foot long. 21.5" an inch or so in front of center(going by memory). Probably 15.5" in the tail and nose. 2 3/4" inches thick. Probably 1 3/4" thick in the nose, 1 5/8" tail. I can measure exactly with my fine, fine calipers tommorrow if you’d like. I don’t know the rocker numbers. I rarely measure them. I just eyeball the foil. I’ve rode it in knee to chest high waves. Pretty fun board although I prefer my fishes when it’s good. Mike
