so after almost five years in Japan it looks like I will be returning to the US so that my wife can go back to school. I worked really hard to build up my shaping / repair / fin business here in Japan and am nervous about having to reestablish myself somewhere new. I will be moving to the Seattle area at least for the first year. So here is my question to all of you. What are the job prospects for a surf tech guy in Washington? I know that I cannot just jump right back into working for myself since i have no contacts or reputation in the area. Are there jobs glassing or sanding to be had? Most likely I will have to get a job doing fiberglass work in the boat / auto industry till something comes my way, while working on the side making boards etc. any insight will help. Thanks

I hope the move goes well and you find some work. Your fins are outstanding. Would you consider doing some for others once you are settled?

Thanks a ton man. I would be happy to make whatever you want once I get set up. I Will keep you posted.
If you will be in Seattle area - try to get a job with Boeing or one of their suppliers? They are doing lots of work with composites!
Also talk to the fiberglass supply guys they probably have a pretty good pulse on whats going on http://fiberglasssupply.com/
