My #001

Hello human-fish all over the world.

finished my first board a month ago.

I know it sounds bad but I decided to copy my friend’s LB, It’s a 10’2 SouthPoint ( NSP) popout and it’s the only board I know

that takes all the waves in all kind of wave conditions. If u don’t care about the weight , it’s a good all-arounder , and besides,

Londboards aren’t very popular in israel, so that was the only option for me to get a board under my hands to copy it.

I got some nice and very accurate technics to measure and make templates, you can see them and the whole project at my G-mail web-album .

I feel I have to thank people for helping me in getting this thing done,

first of all , I owe u guys a big 10X for all the knowledge I got here ( even as a silent user).

10x to Rauf that gave me his board .

10x to Erez that gave me some good advices and help and thanks to Ishay that took photos during the lam process.

10x to JC 101 , both shaping and glassing. 10x to Daniel from SHAPERS AUS that was super nice and Super Fare, sent me finboxes leash plugs etc.

and a final thank-u to Moses (musa) one of the only REAL two master shapers in Israel that gave me some advices before Lam process.

Ok that’s enugh

Board is 10’2" x 23 3\5" x 3.5" 30kg\m^3 EPS 6-6 deck 6 bottom . 7.5" fin.

you can see the whole project from day one at :

and I’ll try to attach some pic’s to this message.

I’ll be really happy to hear any kind of criticism, good or bad! I can take it

enjoy…

Lee, nice job man!

I like your choice of shape, I always thought it would benefit from a slightly lighter build technique and well raked fin.

You’re gonna have fun with that board! Let us know more about the ride!

A couple things I picked up on my first few boards:

-Trueing the outline is important, it makes the railshape easier

-Ply stringers are fine, best to make the stringer out of three laminate layers so you always overlap the joins, no weak spot.

-Using a small paint roller for your lamination allows efficient resin usage and a tight laminate.

Stoked to see another eps/epoxy homebuilder

hi dave thanks,

luckily , there where three weeks of good waves.

knee to chest high waves, steep but not too powerful beachbreaks.

It rides very similar to the original NSP, yet it’s a bit lighter and more maneuverable.

with this fin, placed all the way forward it still needs a lot of surfer energy, a good placement and a good reading of the wave to make it radicl .

but when the nose goes over that damn lip…ohhhh it feels like nothing else… it rocks!

b.t.w , speaking of the fin, this fin was shaped in august 1982 , one year b4 I was born.

I took it from my first surfboard which I got from one of my dad’s friends. it’s a 1982 isrealy retro …

now I try to figure out how I could loosen this board… maybe add 2 sidebiters and place a small center fin, hopefully not to

lose to much drive.

maybe less thickness will help…

.

what do you mean by “trueing the outline” ?

.

just wanted to mention that hot coat went out real good and that my camera doesn’t do justice with

the final result.

only one question regarding the hotcoat-

I sanded the deck after the hotcoat , got rid of most of the shinies but didn’t want to go crazy with it, not to get into the weave.

I use a 5" disc ,company claims it’s a soft backing pad , i think differently …medium-hard

do you think that a bigger/softer pad will make the final sanding and result , better?

thanks again…

Lee, the human fish :)))

Hi Lee,

Cool board and funny logo. I assume that’s your ‘mug?’ Interesting consistencies in surf culture around the world. It seems to attract funny characters. Mike

well…now i know what i’m riding next time i make my way to the Holy Land!!!

stoked!

 You’re welcome…

plan you’re trip in the winter, it’s more likely to get good waves

and hopefully my quiver ( that’s the word ,right?) will be richer …

lee.

A week a go, the sea started to work again, after a long vacation…

I got all freaked out, and suddenly I understood… my longboard needs a Tri-fin setup to be what I initially wanted it to be.

and I’m speaking of a thruster not on 2+1.

so I installed two sidebiters and built a special mount to connect a regular G-3000 to the LB center box.

it rides muce more fun now, turns very quick and still, does’t loose any grip on the wave.

yesterday we had overhead++ powerful waves , it was crazy, couldn’t erase the smile for a few hours.

here are the pic’s,

enjoy.

I like the adapter. How did you seal the wood?

JSS

I was in such a hurry to the beach, didn’t have enough time to seal it in a convetional way, so I used 3 sec superglue (HOT STUFF).

it goes into the fibers and seals the wood very good. 'till now, the plywood seems very dry .
