Wow, its very...pink! Is that you in the wild safari jammies (LOL, just kidding)? Nice board, btw.
River surfing!
Goes well on sea and river
WTF is the go with the safari suit thingy ? classic pic and the river surfing looks cool...is there much power in those waves or is it very soft ??? pinky looks good too, my 8 yr old has been asking about Dad making her, her own board, she'd like that one I reckon....
very cool!... the river surfing thing is very intriguing too
The safari suit thingy is not a standard wetsuit. Its something my daughter found in a fancy dress shop and wanted to wear it for a lark but she was afraid of it filling up with water and sinking to the bottom so I piloted it. Drained beautifully. We regularly resort to fancy dress when surfing the river. Once whilst the BBC were filming a documentary of the bore with comedian Griff Ghys Jones one of the local lads surfed with him wearing a pink tutu .I have a photo somewhere. A recent attempt to have a group of surfers wear Borat mankinis was abandoned due to cold weather and fear of nettles.
Yes the wave can get very punchy. I have had more board and body damage on the river than the sea. Rodney Sumpter old time surfing champ was one of the first to surf the bore (must have sometime in the sixties) and he is alleged to have said it was the scariest wave he had ever ridden. The wave is featured on Playgrounds in Paradise.
Yes the pink is very popular. Down on the beach it is well liked and even guys ask for a ride on it. The kids love the bright colour. I was thinking of doing a fluro green one.

STOKE! you guys are having some fun! post more pics please
Howzit Huck, If you do the fluro green make usre you add some opaque green or even little black to the paint becaus fluro paint faeds way to fast and the opaque will stableize it and make it not fade nearly as fast. I have seen them fade just from sitting in the sun for an hr and I remember one board that Robin shaped and the glasser just used straight fluro colors and the whole paint job was gone in a matter of months. The person had him shape another one and I painted it my way and it never faded much to the owners delight. Just a good painting tip hen using fluro paint, plus green with just the right amount of black added give the color a nice touch. Aloha,Kokua
Very useful to know. Thanks
