But don't microwave the hardener or the additive-F! Put additive-F in a warm water bath with the cap loosened, so pressure doesn't build up. I prefer using a warm water bath for all components. That way everything is the same temperature when mixed together.

I hope you wernt side steping
I dont think were talking about frozen epoxy
just stuff that has rubbered up in normal storage temps ,,, 55 to 90 degrees
is there a reason fo it happening?
Had the same thing happen to me.
Its not cold here in NY, just the opposite its perfect 70 degree weather.
Im a zealot about not haveing cross contamination. I keep the resin and hardner on different shelves, in different plastic bags and never even open them at the same time. I have had epoxy last much longer then poly resin shelf as far as shelf life. (est 2.5-3 years)
But the last batch I got of RRs resin is now a hard lump after useing a little bit of it a few weeks ago. Oddly the hardner and the resin are both hard? And this was discovered on a 80 degree day?
I hope Im not screwed, as both bottles are nearlly full and being out $75 bucks = shipping is not fun.
I will try the microwave soon, but I really do not think its the problem.
Has anyone else out there had this happen?
weird, i keep mine in the storage shed and never seen this happen. maybe it’s better to be dumb and lucky, but, at least now i know what to do…
I’m happy to report that heating the goop up worked for me. I filled up my sink with hot water and let one jug of 2020 with about two fingers worth of goo sit for about 10 minutes and it liquified nicely. The other jug of 2000 was was about 2/3 full and much more solid. I had it in hot water for about 1/2 hour and it about 1/2 re-liquified but I was tired of waiting. I popped it in the microwave and a minute later, my blob of taffy was back to liquid. I did 30 seconds, uncap to let the pressure out, recap, shake and repeat.
I’m really glad this worked and thanks to everyone who chimed in on this. If it weren’t for your posts I would have wasted another gallon of resin.

I will give it a try and report back…
Now if I ruin the microwave, the Tude’ I get from my wife for working on boards all day will seem like nothing…
fingers cross and hopefully not sleeping on the couch…
It appears my hardner is fine…
The 2 other epoxy bottles are stiff as a corpse…microwave tonight
I have seen this a few times through the years. Not really sure why this happens but we just replace it when it does. Heating it also tends to work. We use very pure chemicals which can be a little finicky about temperature extremes. If we saw this all the time it would be a problem but we see it a couple times a year. Not exactly sure what causes it but replacing it is a sure way to fix the problem. We can then reprocess the stuff here so nothing gets thrown away.
Microwave worked just fine.
1 minute…30 seconds at seperate times and its all love juice again…
I had to leave the cap on because the bottle would not fit upright in the Microwave, alos not a problem did not expand at all.
Thanks to all the people that helped
Glad the microwave trick worked, always has for me.
