My first hollow wood

Here is my first hollow wooden board outa redwood ply. With thanks to all the web info from Paul Jensen, swaylock, wegenger and of course Roy Stewart although I haven’t used his plans bring back Roy. I’m planing my next hollow totaly differant from everyone elses light thin, strong! and fast!! built from the outside in

How about sharing your intentions for your next project, My present project’s priority is weight saving but as for the outside in thing, that’s beyond me.

Well the plan is to glue the rails up on a jig not around an interal frame… then rebate the inside of the rail for the deck etc and a thin ribs(glass) for strength and shape. I think this way a thinner veneer can be used and more shape could be add vee’s concaves. with sharp rails it’d fly!

I thought of something similar but with moulding the two halves (top and bottom) of a board seperately, then building an internal structure into one half before bonding the two halves together. Not sure how it would go, whether it would have enough stiffness etc.

Keep us posted on the progress with that.
