I just finished Frankenstein nnumber one and I am moving on to my the task of glassing the board. I have worked with fiberglass a bunch but have never glassed a whole board before, so i am nervous but not scared.
when I cut my laps for the tail and nose of my shortboard can I have them overlap and then sand it down or should i cut them so they do not touch when they are wraped around the nose?
Also. Is it that much more of a pain in the ass to do epoxy? I am in Hawaii so will the heat really be an issue?
Mr Skeletor, no problems ‘coz! You will find Resin Research epoxy will do very well in the islands. The chemistry is such that it won’t soak into the blank too much, AND you have lots of time to get it right. The one thing you got to do with epoxy is get da kine measurement ratios perfect. Fo’ real.
Nose and tail laps should overlap about 1/4 inch. Grind them down nice after it cures. To get that 1/4 inch, just fold the lap over and have a look from underneath and cut the cloth accordingly.

Don’t be afraid, do the research to get it as good as possible, but most miskakes can be resolves in a way that you would never know there had been any, so just enjoy doing it and learn from any mistakes you do make, all these mean is a bit of extra work to get it perfect.
go ‘Skeletor’, go !
