just got this little sucker for a hundy bucks . the surfboard industry being a rag trade and all, i thought it would be appropriate adddition to the tool kit

so here it is. the post up you sewing thread. ’

board bags. wetsuits. change mats and boardhorts etc etc

how diy are you

i just took a photo of a carbon neutral board on a rebuilt and recycled truck . getting there i think.however id like to the see the board in a homemade bag and perhaps even a homemade wetty like roy stewarts missus emma makes

I’ve fixed holes in wetsuits from hitting reefs with wetsuit gule I bought does that count? dam I’m such a consumer!  When I was a grom (late 80’s) it was the norm (between my friends) when your shorts wore out that your mum would unstich the quik-rip-abong label and put it on the next pair of shorts.  I guess people have more disposeable incomes these days.  I wonder how many kids will get a $150 pair of stretchy boardies this xams?

 

Hey Paul if you set it up infront of the Sh!ter there in the back left corner you can punch out a board bag at the same time as punching out your morning steamer!

oh lol thats not my sh!ter. thats the shed i got it from. picked it up today. just got a warrant rege for the ute i rebuilt and drove it down to Otane with my two daughters had some fat bass sounds with scetch show followed by jamiroquai. gawd it weighed a ton. my girls were instant friends with the girls at the place and we hung out for a half hour yakking. motored back home and got it up to the house somehow( i live on a terrace house) i had to pull the machine off the table to get it up the hill / nearly all set up to go needs a new belt and some oil…

ken id love to say yes but i sew like crap hah. let me get some practice first

Hey Paul

Here’s my baby, this thing will sew through anything . In my paying life I make interior blinds although I have a girl who does my sewing.

Food for thought , might get her sewing bags when it’s quiet.

Just to please the sewphobics . This is a stubbie I made recently. 5’8" 5fin.

If you look carefully you can see the light on my sewing machine in the photo.

I have made board bags out of blankets, hand-sewn (with fishing line).  Never know when you might get stranded somewhere and need to eat, not hard to unravel some line to fish with.  And the board bag makes a reasonable sleeping bag.

I will take that tip Kieth Melville. Dental Floss/Tape might be better because it can also repair wetsuits without tearing through. Plus it’s minty fresh.
