I had to share this with you guys. This stuff is called “cypress sinker.” They are logs that were lost when lumbermen would float them down rivers. Some would sink and there at the bottom of a river they have remained for anywhere from 60 -150 years. I guess I can safely assume these will withstand a little water intrusion! This stuff has this really cool gray band of color. The pieces I have are only 13" wide so I will have to band them with another species. I ordered some ash but the color is way too light ( you can see them lying beside the cypress). Maybe Doug fir would have been better? Or I could tint the ash? I’ll figure something out. These pieces will go towards a remake of my 7-1 bonzer…
