getting ready to put in a blank order for my next project. i’m thinking of a simple cruiser at about 9’6", 50/50 all the way around, shallow nose concave, slight belly roll, and a little flip in the tail…nothing at all technical. i wanted some input on the cosmetic aspect, though. i’m thinking yellow resin tint, but what about the stringer. i want some nice old-school lookin’ T-band, but what kinds of wood and at what thickness? also, for the blank, gonna go with Clark’s 9’9"W, but i’m not sure if i want SuperGreen or Classic foam density, or if i want the added rocker. i’m planning to glass it with epoxy, so it’ll have a lighter glass schedule than i normally use, but i like heavier boards so i’m not concerned with adding weight in other areas. any input is appreciated. thanks…
Hey Brandon,
Sounds like we are doing the same board almost. I will be ordering my 9’9" W tomarrow. I am gonna get it in super green and a 3/4" Cedar stringer. Also, the WR-JA (+1/2"N last 18" + 1’2"T last 21"/Arocker) that you can order it with is said to be a really good set up, and it looks really good in person too. I will be doing a blood red and champagne resin swirl on the bottom in 8 oz volan, and 8 oz top with an 8 oz deck patch. We will have to compare them when they are finished. I just made my template yesterday. 9’6" 19"N-23"-16"T 3" thick. It is gonna be a rounded pin. I am really stoked on building this one because it will be the first time I will be using my new electric planer to shape. I would be interested in seeing how the epoxy version works out.
