My project. 1st board. Reshaped LB. Need a palce to glass it in Honolulu

Aloha… So I grabbed a longboard from the trash the other day and was going to fix it or chop the nose and make a mini log or something. You can read about that in this thread (http://www2.swaylocks.com/forums/reduce-reuse-re-shape). And view more pics of the original board.

THis is where I’m at now.

I know it’s lumpy. I know it’s not done yet. I’m working on my lanai vacuuming foam dust every few minutes. I can’t believe the old ladies ok with it, but she knows I’ve wanted to shape something forever.

All I’ve used so far is a saw, hand plane (no electricity) and sandpaper. I can get it in good shape.

I’ve been doing a ton of research on glassing… Poly Vs. Epoxy etc… I can glass it with epoxy on my Lanai. I can NOT glass it with poly on my lanai. No way.

In all of these threads on glassing there are a ton of guys in Cali saying “come on by my shop, I’ll let you watch me glass a few, and we’ll glass yours up nice.” Hmmm… Pretty cool… I’ve got a place to shape it if I want. A free shaping room, but nowhere to glass it. I’d rather use poly, just because I am familiar with it, and I think it may be a little easier to work with. I’m not real interested in debating that. If I can’t figure something out I will use epoxy and do it on my lanai. But my first preference would be for someone in town to shoot me a pm and let me know where I can rent a room to glass in. Or better yet, let me glass in their room, carport etc… for free or a case of beer or whatever. I know I’m asking a lot.But I know there’s a lot of aloha out there.

I know I can rent some space in Waialua, but I dont have a car. I ride a moped. So in town would be the best.

If anyone can help please lemme know…

DAmn. Not a single reply in 24 hours ++… I know people don’t want to reply unless they can help, and if they can’t help they just keep it moving, but a simple “Youre right it is still really chunky” or whatever is ok… Lol. Thanks anyway. I might have to wait for my friend to go away and glass it in his car port. Sketch. Whatever.

Sorry, but you're right.  I can't help much from where I'm at, here at the Tumbleweed National Forest in the So. Cal. desert.   I try not to say "you're right it is still really chunky", or "that looks lumpy", because my wife has trained me to eliminate those words from my vocabulary, lol.

Carport glassing is acceptable.  Shoot, bedroom glassing (with epoxy) has been attempted and successfully too, by some more intrepid than I.  You mentioned glassing in the car port.  One wood board builder glassed his in the car!  Well, van.  You do what you must, the glass must go on!

OK, you don't have a car or van, you have a moped.  A guy named Steamroller (swaylocks name) used to ride his moped to the beach, then blow his inflatable surfboard up when he got there.  A real character.

BTW, that stringer looks a bit proud, don't neglect to take a plane to it prior to glassing.
