My skimboard warped while gluing on the stringer =[

I put a big tile on the planing surface so that part is flat, but one side of the nose is warped and the tail also.

Does anyone know how I can fix this without removing the stringer?

The foam is XPS, the pink closed cell styrene insulation foam.

Kinda hard to visualize without a picture, or more detailed description

Did the foam shift, so that it is glued to the stringer in the wrong shape?

If so, I think you're gonna have to cut it away and re-glue, can't see any way around that.  At least the portion that got glued up wrong.

Or.. can you post some pictures???

Amazing the actual surfing being done on what's called a "skimboard", I saw just awesome footage of a skimboarder towing in to overhead surf, and some of those guys who skim out to incoming shorebreak waves are busting incredible moves!

Hahaha - you were posting pics while I was asking for pics - Wow, that's quite a twist you have there!

I think you need a better clamping system / surface for glueing up the stringer.   Did you have it on a flat bench?  Do you shape it before glueing up the stringer?  Seems like it would be better to glue the blank up with stringer, then shape it.

I don't build skimboards - is there a lot invested up to this point?  My inclination is to scratch it, and try again.

Sorry, best I can come up with.  Got any pics of your work (completed boards)?  Hope you get it figured out!

what did you do?

shape it then split it then glue the stringer in?

^ Yes, exactly.

This is the first board im going to actually complete. I made a fish style skimboard last year but never got completely glassed cause I didnt have the cash.

Not my investment, just a good amount of time haha. I was trying to get the stringer perfect and this is what I get :stuck_out_tongue:

Bummer… The rails were solid and the foam lines up perfectly on each side of the stringer. I dont get how it warped

I know you guys dont make skimboards, but can you suggest a way to get the rocker I want without using a stringer?

I only have 1/2 inch XPS so I cant just sand the shape in.

you will have to vacumme bag it to a rocker jig as you glass it

even with a stringer you will have to do that, cause the foam wants to straighten out

I made this from a surfboard blank

lot of work
