my wetsuit is trash...

Surfed in a drysuit in Puget Sound years ago.  Loved it, aside from the pressure relief valve that was on my upper chest area.  DUI Flex 350.  And, still couldnt feel my legs after 20 minutes.

every winter wetsuit of mine has become trash after 2 winters. It might look alright, but it will have lost insulation and become stiffer.

g’day Whitney, I agree with Resinhead. Get a name brand wettie, buy the one that fits the best and yes they are disposable.

just remembered - wash it in fresh water after every use and don’t dry it in the sun. I take it to the beach in one of those plastic storage boxes and use it to wash the suit too.

Thanks guys, your input will help the process of finding a new one.  Used the old one again today (only 1 yr old) and the ankle-part was pulling away from my ankle letting water in. hmm, that sucked.  luckily the water isn't cold here yet.

as for surfing in a drysuit, that must be rough.

I can't wait til someone invents a material that feels and is as thin as silk but warm as a full 4/3 or something.

performance and flexibility are key!  think like those footie pajamas you had when you were little.

peace.

i got a rip curl e bomb a few years ago, fell apart really quicklly, but replaced without fuss with a new one..this one has done me fine so far, just a little wear in the cuff of one side,i also have a gul flexor(?) 6/5/4  really good tough suit.....oh,i get in on average twice a week..

and I logged on thimkink

that this thread was about

wetsuits made of throw away material

in a perfect world/parrallel universe

we all went surfing at dawn and no one was out

wool sounds good, wearing silk long underwear underneath would

stop the itchy wool factor, wouldn't it? caompatigonia ?

or incopatigomia that is the question.I would like to say

that you will look great in any wetsuit you choose

so pick a temperature you wish to live and dress

accordingly for your

local

climate .

as for price, you deserve the best.

...ambrose...

now lets talk about making your own suit.

I buy the cheap ones, and I also wait for them to go on sale…but I freeze my nuts off.

II bought a brand new Oneill 4/3 Heat for $138.xx out the door, free shipping, no tax

from Evogear.com in August. Itts normal retail is $250.

Always buy a new suit in July/Aug for up to 50% off of last years suits.

Its what the smart beautiful people do!

It’s called a Matuse. I’ve got a closet full of wetsuits and I won’t even look at my old ones (Rip Curl, Oneil, Xcel) since buying the Matuse. The 3/2/2 works great for all water temps in SoCal (except, of course, when you don’t need a wetsuit at all). Just as warm as a 4/3 in the winter but INFINITELY more comfortable (much less restriction in the shoulders for paddling, etc.). Not sure about the range of availability for women though - you’ll have to check on that.

Suits for men run a little small, so if you do find one, I suggest you try it on before buying.

If you just want a deal and to order from some nice people, try cleanlinesurf.com (based in Oregon). They probably don’t sell Matuse, but they often have closeout deals (last year’s models sold cheap, for example), and sometimes they send you free rashguards and stuff like that.

i am a big fan of Hyperflex wetsuits. Love my 5/4/3

but then again i only get to use it maybe 10-20 times a winter when we finally get waves here on the east coast.
