Natural Rocker and making hotwire rocker guides

OK so wondering about the meaning of Natural Rocker and how to transfer making hotwire rocker templates…

What I could not find in the CLARK Catalog description of rocker, nor in the archives, was where the zero reference point of the Natural Rocker resides.

I presume it is at the center of the blank but can’t find confirmation of that.

Example: the 6’8"R gives rocker specs at the N/T, -1’ and -2’. This leaves ~2’8" in the middle of the board without rocker info. would the cuvers blend to the zero reference plain at -3’ or at the center? or for that matter some other place?

5 1/8" (N), 1 3/4" (N-1), 1/2" (N-2)

2 1/4" (T), 1 1/16" (T-1), 3/8" (T-2)

The deck is flat through the middle of the board.

My thought is that I’ll shave a 1/2" off all the deck measurements when making my hotwire templates to account for (1) PU->EPS and (2) balsa sandwich skins (using 1/8th" balsa).

Any thoughts???

b.t.w. good info on similar topic under the industry discussion http://www.swaylocks.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=243162#243162

thought since this is not in the general discussion area it might have been missed by the masses.

Hey Forrest -

I guess you have one of the few uncut Yater blanks left. Have you compared the actual rocker on it with the catalog specs? I should think laying a straight edge so it touches the blank at the center point and measuring from that would be pretty close. You might also try laying blank on a flat surface like your garage floor and measuring up from that. Let us know what you come up with!
