Hi all. I am hoping someone has a funboard/longboard fin template in an excel or other program file. I also have autocad. I got a great piece of exotic wood to make a few fins and I would like a template to get me started.
not that i advocate piracy, but snag a pic off any manufacturer’s website and copy the outline. what kind of wood??
Brandon;
I was hoping to get a CAD expert who has done it already with a generic design.
The wood is a South American Exotic I was going to do an inlay with it back when I made furniture. I got it from an Amish furniture maker 15 years ago. It is deep maroon with brown grain lines 6" x 8’. Really beatiful wood.
BTW; I wouldn’t consider it piracy if I just did a few fins for myself with their shape. In most cases, they got the shape idea from someone. Golf example; is Scotty Cameron a pirate for the Newport design (ping copy), maybe but a rich pirate.
Draw it up yourself.
You’re going thru the hardship of making a wooden fin, and you want to COPY someone’s template?
Where’s your sense of reason?

I don’t have a CAD program but I can trace a couple of paper templates from fins I have and mail to you. They’ve already been modified as I’ve sanded out the leading edge dings - you don’t have to worry about ripping anybody off. PM if interested.
LL,
I have some cad files at work that I can send you tomorrow. I think I have the files 9, 9.5, and 10" in the below - just the fin without the base drawn.
Or, send me a pic of something you like. I can draw it, scale it to any size, and send you that in a cad (dwg) file.
Best,
Herb
