I’ve told this before but I have shipped boards and fins and gear to sways friends I’ve never met on the expectation that I would be paid at some point. Others have done the same for me. I have yet to have a bad experience.

ken, im so glad things are okay, if the womans shelter is up noosa way let me know and I can drop in weekly if needed with a cake and have a chat to check up on how she is feeling, happy to do this anytime mate.

Don't be surprised -- or, more importantly -- disappointed -- if she gives it/him another try. On average, people make half a dozen attempts at getting out of a bad situation before they get away completely. But having learned to make a plan and get the support and resources is always the basis for finding safety and a new life. So let her know above all else that it's normal to feel ambivalent and to get pulled back by an undertow of memories of the good times there were.
Just reinforce the hell out of the idea that the best place and the only sane place to work out that ambivalence is a place where you are safe and can think straight. And be clear about how your support needs to be the long haul kind.
I did domestic violence work for twenty something years, and it got easier when there began to be people like you who would step in and step up, rather than "stay out of people's private business." So, good on you, and thanks.....Colleen..
That was my Significant Other. She is being modest when she says she did domestic violence work . So I will do a little bragging for her. Colleen earned her PhD at Stanford University Part of her career was training Cops, Judges , lawyers and Social workers on domestic violence issues and Laws.
Ken, Let your loved one know she has a lot of support out there from people she never met.
