need help with dimesions

Righto, here is the plan. I am going to a western depot for 2 weeks to train people in my normal job as target for middle management abuse. then I will do a shaping stint .here lies the dilema. I have to make a guy who’s normal board is 6’0 x18&1/8 x2 a 7’0 gun. How wide. how thick . It will be for juicey waves. I can’t say were but at this time of the year where do you reackon.

as a 6ft tall 100kg specimen of bizarre experiments I haven’t got a clue. my skate board has the dimensions of his allrounder.

Give me a hand and I’ll throw a swaylocks inspired lam on it.

we’ll all be famous

Hello mate. Im no expert on guns but i use a simple method.

For every inch i go up in length, I decrease the tail width by 1/8"

For every 2 inches i go up in length, I decrease the nose width by 1/16" (keeps the nose kind of wide’ish)

Thickness plus 1/16 for warm water and more for cold heavy water waves.

I look forward to hearing from others on this also.

hope it helps

I’m just about to pinline a 7’0 semigun today… very similar to the MSG

11x18.5x13.75x2.5

flat to vee bottom

trailing fin 3.75 up

rail fins 11.75 up, 6 degrees cant, toed in to the nose

6/4 deck, 6 bottom

red resin tint bottom/rails, 5 color resin swirl deck

I’ll post a pic if I can

Hey Pandanus,

For someone who rides a 6’0, I’d build him a 7’0 x 18 3/8 -1/2 x 2 3/8 - 2 1/2 depending on his age. nose around 11, tail tight pin @ 13". forward vee to double concave running FCS M3 or glass on in similar size template. He may whinge and moan about extra glass being too heavy but you need when those offshore a holding you up. 6 + 4 deck, 6 bottom.

post some pics when you’re done. these are my favourite boards to build.

Regards

Daren

edit: forgot one thing, bring that rail down nice and low. If he’s a small guy he just wont have the weight or power to bury a thick bulky rail. Those are pretty close to my dimensions and I’m way too light to sink blocky rails.

I think 7’0 or 6’10 I have a burford 7’0j so that will sufice. 18&3/8 x 2&3/8. glass will be 6&4 0n the deck with 4 under and fin patches. now if I go a swallow tail what width would it be I thought about 3 inches.

Nothing like a good 6’10.

I’d drop the tail area to around the 12" mark.

3" between the pins on the swallow.
