Need Help With Shaping Room

Hey, there’s a lot of advantages to living in the country…unless your next to some guys meth lab that blows up!

No seriously though, I agree you gotta be careful with any motors and stuff…esp. if you’re doing a garage deal or something that would instantly nullify home insurance polcies.

If people are worried about their light switches the can install bubble covers…they cost around $3 or $4 each and they are used for areas that have outlets that might get wet from lawn sprinklers…but they would also be good for heavy foam dust. Or people can put plugs in outlets that aren’t being used to fill the prong holes…or as we are suggesting, use air to circulate and vacate your dust. I had a shaping room that pushed and pulled air using two $20 box fans and didn’t even need a mask when shaping…really. It was a neat system…this was on a narrower (7’6") room.

People get overly concerned about sanding in a shaping room…if you are correctly laying up and sanding boards, there is very little glass that is actually being sanded. Foiling fins? Yeah, totally different drill, but otherwise just cover your shaping racks with a pillowcase and away ya go.
