Was wondering if anyone might be able to provide me with some information on shaper Matt Calvani, who is currently turning out BINGS in El Segundo? Are “his” Bing noseriders solid performers? Are these boards like their predecessors in every respect, or are they modern interpretations? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
I can’t comment on the shapper however a young friend of mine purchased one on e-bay thinking it was the real deal. It surfed well but was it was what i would call a “modern longboard” not a direct reproduction of an old board. At least compared to my original Bing David Nuuhiwa Lightweight anyway… Cheers
Matt used to shape for Becker. If you’ve seen a Becker, he probably shaped it. He now shapes for Tyler.
I really like Calvani’s work. He’s a big fan of the Rockwell 653 and is currently shaping for Tyler, Lance Carson, Bing, & Rick. Very expericenced, I’d recommend his boards. I know Bendickson gave him his old templates, but as far as performance qualities of the new Bings, best to talk with Matt for further insight.
