New Blue Resin Research 2000 Epoxy!

Is this the new RR CE from this post http://www.swaylocks.com/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=349082;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25;guest=17275475 (nt., greg L. first post)?

Ok, I spoke to Greg last week regarding the Blue RR and here’s what he had to say in a nutshell:

The “blue” epoxy has been out for approximately 2-3 months. Allot of people have been using it with no complaints. There is no difference between that and the clear epoxy as far as glassing with it goes. It works the same with pigments and tints as the clear does. It’s a similar optical brightener to the type used in polyester resin and should help with yellowing. It definitely makes boards look whiter right out of the gun. He also said he should have some time soon to address this subject in detail on Swaylocks. So stay tuned!

Have fun!

The blue as been out there for about 3 months. It does give a whiter looking board at the start. As Brad said it doesn’t stop yellowing but it does tend to keep yellowing from being noticable as quickly. It also doesn’t yellow faster which we have seen with oter optical brighteners used in polyester.

The CE resin has been out for about a month. It can be used on EPS or urethane and contains a UV absorber. On urethane it laminates lighter than polyester. A six ounce laminate can be done for about the same weight as four ounce polyester laminate. Testing has shown it to be very effective at protecting urethane foam from UV while elimijnating nearly all VOC’s. We have talked with a number of the urethane foam manufacterers and have given them some samples.

We already do have one manufacturer who has gone to this 100% for all laminating instead of trying to pay the poly - epoxy half and half game. He claims excellent results althogh I haven’t seen.

BTW lots of new stuff in the works for 08 from RR. Keep you guys posted right here.

Cool Greg, thanks for clearing it up. We’re looking forward to testing it next week. Our plan is to use it on a Marko EPS and a Biofoam blank. We’ll post the results when finished.

I met up with Justin today in Carlsbad. Got a 3 gallon kit of the new Blue RR Epoxy. Looking good. Now I need to finish shaping a board so we can try the stuff…

If you need Resin Research in SD contact Graphite Master. Justin 714-615-9882. Leave a message , he will call back.
