New board: 6'6" / 21 / 2 5/8 fin choice?

Hi there! I’ve just built a new board in EPS epoxy. The dims are 6’6" / 21 / 2 5/8. It has a flat to fairly deep double concave bottom that is modelled a bit after a bonzer bottom (well, never had or touched a bonzer but i tried to gather some info and pics and just went for it). I planned on using five boxes from probox so i could go quad ( i have the hammer fins which i really like) or thruster. Board still has to be sanded and needs a final coat…

or should i go single? with side boxes?

I am 6 foot and weigh about 171 lbs (78kg) and intend to surf the board in France on the better days, mainly beachbreaks or not too heavy point breaks, from shoulder to a bit over headhigh.

and one more thing: would the centre Probox support a center fin that is like 7 inches tall - so that i could run sth like a bonzer set up without using a US Box? Or is there a risk of tearing out the Probox? anybody tried that?

anybody?

i cant really help you with the finpositioning…

but maybe this helps http://www.mckeesurf.com/?page_id=267

for my latest thruster i just took the numbers from hanalei fin systems… worked really well.

I wanted to link their site too, but it seems to be different now, showing another box system -gearbox.

Since Probox does not offer 7 inch fins with the probox base i can not really recommend to use them, although i feel that they are strong enough to hold them.

I kicked the side fin of my thruster with the knee and it came out, cause the screwhole broke, but the box itself and the glass around are undamaged.

On the other hand, the center box does not allow too much movement for a (modified) fin, so i think a USbox will be the smarter option.

Do you stay in Europe? Just asking, cause i really like the Probox stuff and i have not found a shop here, so i ordered at fiberglasssupply, which is great, but the shipping…

jspr! thanks for your reply… yes, I’m in europe (Germany) and I am about to order from the states. interested in ordering together? (however small amounts are still free from duties)…

I tried to contact probox directly, which worked well the first time around (two years ago I ordered boxes and fins for 5 boards). but this time they just don’t answer, although i’ve mailed them a couple of times. does anybody know what’s up with them? do they not deal with garage shapers but only with wholesale dealers anymore?

i really like the system and wanted to order directly from them as i also need some replacements that the other distributers don’t offer…

greenlight have the basic probox stuff but ran out of the stickers that keep the resin out… mmmh

i also used the numbers from the hanalei site for positioning and they worked well…

i will send a PM.
