Why not to put the polystyrene in the middle and the PU in the rails? Always better to have more rigidity in the contour; also for production and possible future dings?
Surfding, Looks cool man! Obviously you are going with Epoxy resin
right? I know you know better. I love doing combo foam boards. I’ve done
some in the past. I did a fish built with 5 different versions of a
6’2" C 5 different foams all gluede up paralell to the stringer. Came
out cool. Also i’ve taken a USB with parabolic stringers and put Blue
XPS foam on the rails. Looked and rode really good. I really love the
feel of an ultralight poly foam with an Epoxy glass job. Light and
strong! Can’t wait to see the finished product. Hey, have you tried the
6’4" EA that has so much rocker and have it glued with the 6’2" P bottom
rocker centered? It looks and works really well. Lower entry rocker.
I’ve found that both of EA’s blanks (natural rocker) had too much
rocker for Ca. Works well for Hawaii boards.
The pictured board is an WNC EPS blank, I then glued parabolic stringers. Then I put some of my Agave Cactus on the rails. I then painted the center foam with a Pearl Stainless Steel color. I wanted a wood/metal look.
llilibel03, Thanks, the Stainless Steel color is paint. A pearlesent water-based paint. The wood is Agave cactus that grows in my yard. The stuff in the background is just some of tools for painting surfboards. That’s actually my old studio. Newer one has even more! After nearly 30 years of airbrushing surfboards, I’ve collected many tools, templates and art supplies.
Mahalo Ding for sharing! Is that a grovler/hp board for your son? Looks wider in the nose than some of the other ones I’ve seen you do for him.
And then what 4 deck 4 bottom? Maybe S with the epoxy?
Seems that if you knew the length of the riders foot and got the ball and heel of the rear foot right onto the stringers you could get a pretty interesting ride quality out of the board. Intentional or accidental on the stringer placement?
