Im looking for advice as to the shape of my new board. Ive got the general idea but can use all the help I can get. Im looking for something an an 8’6 to 8’8 for smaller surf, lets say 4-8 feet, slow and kind of weak at my break. I weigh in at around 215. Let me know what you guys think would work the best in my case. Thanks, MikeD
Hey Mike, Did you send me an email with a question about fining a 9’0" by 22.5" board? Rich
Yep Rich, I did. What else can you tell me?
Mike I replied to it. The email came back undeliverable. Hi. This is the qmail-send program at mail.icehouse.net. I’m afraid I wasn’t able to deliver your message to the following addresses. Who shaped it? Does it have rail fins boxes? Tell me about the rail and bottom configuration. What kind of surf conditions do you ride mostly? Square tail? How wide? In the attachment is my favorite longboard center template called “Whiteside” You’re board will work best with one 8.0" to 8.5" depending the variables mentioned above. The one in the attachment is 8 inches and the set-up is for a 9’2" Yater performance longboard. Let me know what you think. I’ll look forward to hearing from you. Thanks Rich. Im not quite sure how to explain the rail config on my board except you could say they are “hard” about 32" up from the tail. And by that I mean they are sharper than the rest of the rail up to the nose. Actually thats my next question for the forum, maybe you can tell me, what all the terms I hear mean. Like 60\40, and turned down, etc. etc. Anyway, the tail of my board is square and only about 3.5" wide. The bottom has 3\16"-1\4" vee from tail to just past center, and yes I do have fin boxes for the sidebites, which are o’fishl. It was shaped for me last summer by a guy in socal under the name Roland. I think the finish is great, but they didnt do everything I asked. Fortunately they are very reasonable on pricing since i think most of the rough shaping is done by computer. I live in the northwest so if you know of someone who shapes, let me know, since Im going to order another deck pretty soon. thanks again.
