new board I made

Some (blurry) pictures of my latest board I made. It’s 6’6" x 19.875" x 2.56" tri fin, with a wide swallow. The nose and tail are a little fuller than I usually ride. Moonlight did the glassing, burgundy red opaque bottom and red tint deck. With the funky 50’s dude playing a record decal on the top (Thanks Moonbase dudes!) I made it out of a drilled 6’11"A blank (machine reject [smile] ) so I had a LOT of mowing to do to get it down to thickness. check it: http://www.dirty.org/~th/newboard http://www.kklmachine.com

Wow, Tyler, your board looks beautiful…are you of any relation to Colin > Hanel in San Diego? He’s my (younger) brother. [smile] http://www.dirty.org/~th/newboard

any idea how the glasser did the board? i figure he lam’d the bottom with the opaque. does the tinted top wrap onto the bottom, or is it more of an inlay?

I’m sure other people on here are more knowledgeable about glassing than I am, but it is my understanding (in fact I saw it at different stages of the process…) that they laminated the bottom with the opaque red first, with the rail laps coming up onto the deck, and getting cut off evenly around the outline of the inlay. Then they did the tinted deck panel as an inlay, and went through the rest of the steps (hotcoat, sanding, glossing, etc) as normal. http://www.kklmachine.com

FOCUS! FOCUS! FOCUS! hee hee, pretty sweet. Go git some wax.
