New Expensive Festool Planer

What do you think?

I have a Rotex and CT22 that's been a dream to use since 2005

other than the jigsaw and plung circular with buiit in guide, I haven;t seen anything worth the investment.

this thing looks nice though with its spiral blade and overall design, I'm sure the vacuum setup, anti vibration and dust reduction is festool worthy

This one I find much more interesting with its motorcycle handle for depth of cut setting:

Festool makes a great tool. I have the c12 d-handle drill and it was worth every penny. Their dust collection systems are top notch.

sorry!

fucking hell that is one amazing piece of equipment!!! i want it i think…

hey oneula

i went to the store today and handled both festool planer

yours and balsa’s

balsa his 850 is one HUGE b… piece of equipment –> super wide [nearly twice the blade width of 82mm] + super heavy

850 does have the on the fly, that allows you to adjust [i measured] about 3/32 of an inch, or 2.6mm in one run. and it feels good.

You do have to press that green switch first though, but that could be modded ofcourse

i had the little brother in my hand too , the one you are on about

that on the fly is NOT handy at all, and must be modded…

on the plus side… it is light, not so wide, not so long, feels good in your hands… good candidate !

ok, hope that was helpful, to me it was! hitachi ps20b for me, KISS

EDIT: both have the knife diagonally, so it really planes, instead of cutting through materials… tearing foam up and such…

spiral bladed cutting planers are not that common

i think it makes a difference as well

one handed capable tools are nice too

but sometime heavy tools (like a skill 100) help in cutting straight and flat

but then I see a potential future coming where you email your shape to your local cutting operation and just pick it up to finish

right now it’s like $25 additional to the cost of the blank in the future it’ll be included in the cost

I do like festools

as a disclaimer though i do own a bosch and a battery powered rigid

but shaping eps with a custom hot wire tool is way faster/cleaner
