True Ames “Greenough” PaddleFin- Lets get this striaght-I`m a longboarder. How can any surfer take a fin like that seriously thats dreamed up by a friggin air mat rider? I use a Squirrel Cutaway and it works great- made by a real surfer used by the pros. I mean does Greenough stand up? Speak to me guys.
I haven’t used one myself – but I wouldn’t criticize it until I had.
…I haven’t seen it yet. What are the claims of this new design?Herb
Hey sweetie! Coral… why aren`t YOU in school?
Yep, Mom had to try out the new paddle on my brother for making us late. Mom caught him out in the garage mixing epoxy with one of my fathers new fins. Can’t wait till he gets home … have fun
hey tosser. This forum is great for its open minded attitude to design. George Greenough has contributed more to surfing than you ever will you miserable small minded prick! Surfing is about having fun whether you ride a longboard, high performance shortboard, bodyboard, kneeboard or whatever. FYI i am a stand up surfer… ohh praise be to the stand up for only we shall enjoy the surf- what rot!! There are other ways to surf too. Get with it- design experimentation is good whatever avenue it comes from. Have fun in the waves and respect to all jimbo
Im above childish name calling. Thats just your opinion and I
ve got mine. Ive got no beef with any of the lower forms of surfing! I
m the first to admit all that knee belly riding stuff could have a place on crap days. Thats what blackball is for! George Grrenough could design silly little paddle skegs for his air mattresses for all I care! But I do double takes when I see a major fin manufactuter hop up with some new-fangled “surfboard” fin designed by some old 1960s counterculture persoanlity who never stuck with how to stand up! Let
s not get too extreme with that whole 1960s "retro" movemnent! Don
t be rumor bashing Longboard Magazine, either. Everybody knows longboarding is back to stay. I agree: have fun in the waves and respect to all!
But I do double takes when I see a major fin manufactuter hop up with some new- >fangled “surfboard” fin designed by some old 1960`s counterculture persoanlity >who never stuck with how to stand up! Just assume that there is some form of R&D and testing at trueames, thus proving that some people actually like this fin. It sure look ‘interesting’ to me. regards, Håvard
george greenough knows his shit. look at the other fins the guy worked on in the 60’s they are still around today. dont discount someone’s ideas just becuase they ride a different type of equipment to you.
Jerry, and everybody.Stop.Learn the true history of the art before you say another word.
Hey Jer, Got yourself a little attitude adjustment, eh? … have fun
Some of the best race car engineers have never gotten behind the wheel of a race car, but they understand the principles and dynamics. You might rip as a surfer and suck as a shaper, the two don’t necessarily go hand in hand.
Has anyone tried the fin though? I like the T.A. 9.75 4C Greenough…great fin for a single fin shortboard, or a single fin longboard.
here it is
Please don’t allow this forum to hit aggroville lows.
Does that mean Rock bottom … have fun
A picture is worth a thousnd words but not in this case. So I’ll ask again how does it ride.
why don’t you get one and try it , then tell us?
…Fin libraries. Put down a hefty deposit and “borrow” 1, 2 , 5, 10 fins and try them all out on the same day. Return them and if you buy one it’s free. If you don’t buy, you pay a rental fee. It’s dumb to have to guess whether a particular fin will work on a board. How come this hasn’t been done?
