How does this look? I need a logo to put on my surfboards and thought that this would look ok, with my name somewhere near it. any ideas on name placement?
Did you do that with a graphic designer? If so why dont you integrate “SM” into the design so it looks like it is overlapping some bars but underneith some other.
You could also just scrap your name entirely and come up with some cool pen name. That is what i would do.
Like go with “SC” for scott but everyone will think that Santa Clause made the board. You know what i mean?
Anyway the board is awesome for the first board ever and i hope you have more in your future.

I used autoCAD 2005 to make it. its modeled in 3-d then i print screened it
does this look better? it integrates the ‘M’ of my last initial
Here was the old logo that im tossing out…
If ne1 wants just the border, (take out my name and “surfboards”) i will e-mail it to them in jpeg format, just post if u want it or not
I like the old one better.
New one looks to “Escher-esque”. To complex. I like the idea of it…try to simplify it a bit. Doing that will allow you to work your intials in.

Lance Carson called: he wants his logo back
Ive seen his logo before… inspired mine, but his has hard lines on the inside, mine are smooth all the way through. plus i dont have a surfer in mine and I changed font and color. also, his looks better. mine looks amatuer… also, i free handed mine in autoCAD. I didnt trace therefore mines “original” but inspired. nice job on the detective work.
check this out… http://surfcrazy.com/stanleys/html/logos.html Its where i got the basic shape… ish
Scott, Rusty Preisendorfer has one of the most recognizable logos out there: the R with a dot. In an interview he talked about logos, and why he came up with that design. By the way, he has a degree in some kind of art. I think it’s graphic design.
Anyway, his advice on logos was to keep them as simple as possible so that they are easily recognized. With that in mind, yours is a little complicated and the average eye may not catch all the subtlies you have built into it. I really like your design because of the perception-bending aspect of it. But you might want to distill it. My 2 cents. Doug
Other logos w/ same shape…
why the need for a logo? be original…let your mind run.
Don’t sweat it, Scott, I was just giving you a hard time. Didn’t take any detective work at all, I knew the rounded-in diamond was Lance’s…Lots of diamonds out there, from the ones you showed, plus Harbour, etc, and the horizontal ones like Hap Jacobs, Hobie, Bear…
I didnt take offense at your comment, i knew there were a ton of logos like mine, i was just displaying some for others to see and to show where i got influence from. also, Its a cool websit to look at. i love browsing through all the logos. I still am trying to find an “original” one of a kind shape that I can use. I realize that the hexagon thing was a little complex. so thats scraped i guess… i just cant think of something that hasnt been used before, or atleast on surfboards. and doing an M. would be way stupid. maybe an S. ? but then again, I dont want to infringe on the Rusty surfboard logo. grrrrr… so hard to think of something good and recognizeable.
do any of these look good? (assuming Rusty inspired logo is ok)
?
I liked your first idea, because it was (more?) original. Just keep working on it… -Carl
I am soo doing the superman logo on one board… change of colors of course so i dont totally rip it off.
Which one looks better?
The second one is freaking righteous. On a yellow board? Supersurf?
