Held some in my hands today. Came home with a sample.
Interesting stuff.
They told me it could be molded into any shape desired fairly cheaply.
Gonna look into this in combination with all my Agave scraps.

I wonder if korare; seed stalks form harakeke;flax could be a viable option. Light as a light thing.
I know there was some cats in NZ who were toying with the idea many moons ago. Adhesives wouldn’t make it worth while but this shrooms process could be the go.
On a spin off from these shrooms, anyone seen that footage of a car with panels made out of hemp seed resin in the late 50’s early 60’s I think. Ths guy slams a sledgy into one of the panels and the dent pops straight back out at him. pono. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zUxu9Z_Y1Y
I’m wondering, has anybody shaped a sample yet?
It looks like Ecovative is selling samples… http://shop.ecovativedesign.com/collections/surf/products/core
If this works, it seems promising. Imagine having the spores for this and growing blanks at home from green “waste”
I now wonder if I could just grow a 35" foot sailing catamaran from Mushrooms?
Actually Shark , foam is a substitute for balsa , to feed the masses !..(lol)
Kayu, you are right! Guess we are back to the future. Going from man made petrochemical materials to nature’s finest, god’s gift to us all. My friend in Kona is growing Balsa and Wiliwili for future surfboards. Hopefully it won’t take too long because he’s in his 60’s now.

that’s a big boat
Kingphin noecean who posts here used some flax stem on the deck of a board…
there is also a native Whau tree which has very light wood. Finding some to harvest might be tricky though.
at a $130/blank?!
Hey Barry! Did you here voices?? Met some guys from Oregon once at a Mega Woodstock type concert at the old Ontario Speedway in the '70’s. They spent the night at our place on the Central Coast on their return trip. Lots of “shrooms” . Heard somebody talking outside the house all night. Kept getting up and going to look out the window. No one.
So chrispy----------- Are you saying Poly is the new green or that it has always been green??
Problem with the stuff is that it will be heavily regulated by the FDA. Can you imagine if somebody ate a chunk of it and died. The bio-foan intrigued me until I saw that it was going to be produced in the Netherlands. So much for cost-effecient. What’s wrong with Ensenada??
They can only grow dirt mushrooms there… the good shit comes from the Netherlands.
Roger Hall has done boards with flax stem and other materials for a long time.
