new member/old shaper

just now discovered swaylocks’ forum. i’ve been shaping since 1969 as a teenager;i’m ashamed to admit my first shape was from a greg noll that had been ridden up on the beach too much and the bottom of the nose was peeling back from the glass being worn out-wish i had that board today but that $3.00 (yes thats what i paid for it)board began my life of addiction. and to this day when i roll into clark foam in melbourne, fla. they treat me like their best customer.the guys working there are the best!

these days my 18 yr old daughter can shape, the longboard she shaped for herself is beautiful, with multi-color wood nose/tailblock, her own logo, and perfect 50/50 rails thruout.

so if you’re thinking about your own first shape-dive in. after consuming this website like a true addict i’ve found the info to be accurate, and if you’re a craftsman with your hands and have a natural eye for art & design you can’t go wrong. and thanks to oceanside surfshop (it was on A1A near cocoa beach back in the 60’s)for all their help.

Good to have you aboard…Theres never enough room for someone with your experience. Would love to see pics of your daughter’s work…You dont see too many shapers of the female gender. Aloha
