magnets?

Looks like ball bearings and springs. Uses pressure to hold the fin in.

Yes. I saw those someplace else on the 'net about two months ago. Spring loaded ball bearings. The same principle as used in closet and cabinet door latches.

Still, a good enough thump from the right angle will knock the fin out, I believe.

Oh, I see…

no adjustment? or little adjustment?

May knock the fin up, but pin holding the fin in may keep it in the box. I like the idea of easily making changes while you’re in the water. You could get a fin dialed in really fast that way.

Looks like Larry could retro fit older fins.

Adjustment depends on base length my friend, this Ninja Fin I was using in Hawaii 2 months back I had 2 inches of adjustment because of base length. Fin fits with roll pin at front so you will never loose the fin even if it clicks out. Notice the fit in the board I was riding here in this link,https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10201028822035838&set=vb.1626125184&type=2&theater. The bearing pops into the plate track inside your fin box.

Am doing exactly that for a shop now my friend, retro fitting some old fins.

Larry, let us know the details about retrofits. I see that you mentioned a patent on the facebook site. Not sure if that would affect retrofits, or new fins.

didn’t Ratio fins from japan put these out like over 5 years ago?

I remember seeing them at Hawaiian Southshore way back then

I also noticed FCS started selling them on a longboard fin recently

What about rust? Corrosion? I am continually annoyed at rust on futures set screws as well as long box fin systems (single fin style such as the type this is a variation on). Are these babies stainless? Does that matter? I don’t know anything about metals… It seems like if one were to have the typical rust and corrosion issues other systems are vexed by that this system could result in a perma-box fin. No? What say you? I for one would like ALL my removable and adjustable fin systems to remain removable and adjustable for a reasonable life of the board time period. Mr Probox Larry: you seem to be a righteous guy from what I’ve read on these forums, trying to do something good in the face of the global-surf-indiustrial-complex, whats the poop (seal poop that is) on rust and corrosion and systems like the ones you show here lasting? Stuck removable fins are lame.

Geoff McCoy has also been offering these in his singles for the last 12 months or so.
