I totally appologize for the triple post!!! I’m still trying to learn this new Swaylocks format. You used to be able to delete posts but at this time you can’t, therefore we’re stuck with my triple posting.
Racks are critical. You need adjustable racks if your going to do a variety of models.
I’ll take some photo’s at the shop tomorrow and post them for you. Like Todd said you can check the “show us your shaping bay” post from the past. Or may people would get off there lazy butts and post some new material?
Depending on how far you take your new found hobie will deterime the size of your area?
I had a dream situation at one time with a room = 10 x 14 with a 12 foot ceiling.
My new room is barely 9 x 14 with a 12 plus ceiling. 1 foot make a lot of difference however all my tools are in reach and the new place doesn’t cost a arm and a leg. Nice and cheap. I couldn’t image shaping at home? You will need major ventalation and a good vacuum system. If your going to do it do it right or go to foam easy and use their set-up. If you live in Orange County Foam Easy is great palace to check it all out. Or you can come to my shop and we will help you design your bay. Your rack height’s and lighting will be the first thing you will need. Also Sound proofing will be a must! Home Depot (Home Cheapo) has sound board 4x8 sheets. Use 2 x 6’s studs for your walls and R30 insulation then sound board then 1/2 drywall tape and mud. Use a sliding pocket door also available at Home Cheapo.
8’ light fixtures with a 2" extention piece so you have 10’ of side lights. Don’t forget overhead lights for templating!
