That one looks interesting. No vacuum needed to hold the blank in place? I wonder if they are using little fish hooks or something similar to grip the blank. Can’t think of another way you could hold it strong enough to not budge when machining the stringer. Any thoughts?
This machine isn’t new but it’s voice activated and is pretty versatile. The boards off it are pretty sweet too.

hows this baby , 6 axis , heavy duty robotic arm , recreates whatever is on the screen , also voice controlled , has up to 10 interchangeable cutting heads , the machine knows the parameters of each tool and decides on which tool is best for the job ,it turns the board to ensure perfect registration , it even picks up a pencil and signs the blank ,to design a board is so amazingly easy , a program you load in dimensions from 3 angles and it autommatically does a 3d rendering on screen , so straight away you can see what the finished thing is like , if you want to copy a board , one of the bits it can pick up is a probe which it can use to feel the surface of whatever board you load in and then give you a 3d rendering of what it just felt , completly enclosed system , no dust at all ,it does channels , swallows , anything you can imagine , it routes the plug hole and fin box slots to , it even blows the blank down after its signed it , then a door opens at one end , a tray slides out with a perfect board , then the machine says in broken words , your A.M. 6’-4" , 237 is done sir …
you can program whatever voice commands you want ,the guy in the control room who organises which shapes need doing and brings them on screen , after loading a blank in , yells SHAPE YOU F**KER at the machine , its his version of grommet abuse , now that you dont even need a grom to sweep the bay , all the dust is extracted straight into a miniskip …100% machine shaped …

and to think i was almost going to get another machine ,the guy who built this machine reckons it would sand a board to , because of how it holds boards with guaranteed registration …
ive seen other machines this company builds , they have developed fully automated vacuum forming production lines , for stuff as big refrigerated trucks , all layed down , resined , vac formed , heated , and then cnc machined and off the line for components to be fitted …
i think were on the verge of a fully automated surfboard production , everything designed on screen by those in the know , with mindless gumbies just loading and unloading …
i gota get some oompa loompas coz this is getting scary …
if i was a builder of other contraptions id be freaking out right now …
seems things are advancing quicker than we could imagine …
the funny thing is , these things are made in china at ridiculous prices ,so now we get a chance to compete with there cheap imported boards , but actually make them at home …
and no , im not telling anyone a thing about them …
dont ask me a single question about this machine , coz its mine , all mine and i dont want anyone else to have one …
i used to go to school with the guy who designed it , ive done him a deal so he wont sell one to anyone else from now on , hes getting a nice kick back on all our boards off his machines …
when something is this good , you gota plan ahead …
