New side lights and tips on adding or adjusting?

I just want to see if I should shorten the height on my shaping stand or add anything else in general

Lights look “OK” picking up shadows and contuors shape a few and see how they work. BUT those cross pieces on the floor are down right dangerous…gonna trip with a power tool…never good

Spoken like a man who knows.

Good call Ace.

I prefer light boxes with a bottom shelf.

Channels the light outward and not down.

Darker floor makes it easier to see board.

12’ of light makes it nice for 8’+ boards.

My lights have a grid to help elliminate glare.

IMHO.

I was thinking of drilling th straight into the concrete that or making stationary walls painted in blue the only thing is is I rent so I’m trying my best to find a way around damaging as much as I can

All things being equal, I think it looks great; I put my lights a touch higher.  And watch the tripping hazards, as previously mentioned.

The floor part is easy.

Lay 1"x 2" grid on the floor.

Sheet with 3/4" plywood.

Paint floor a dark color.

Sound board is a dark color, kills echo, and very cheap.

4’x8’ sheets @ Home Depot.

Bolt racks to floor directly.

i would mount your light shelves to the walls - a couple anchors in a concrete wall will not even be noticed when you move out

also you could mount an overhang on the shelves or re-adjust so that the bulb is close to the shelf - see how high up the wall your lights intersect versus the height that barry’s lights intersect?

paint the walls - you can re-paint when you move out

and sturdy up those racks - lots of good examples in old threads

HAVE FUN!!!

I can see you’re going to be kicking the 2x4 stubs everystep of the way

A nice effort.  Not perfect .   The peanut gallery have pointed out the obvious.  See what you can do to improve on those things.

JT- It looks like you have a nice space and some great feedback from the forum. If you can’t wall mount the lights here’s a couple more ideas to ponder (pictures of stands using concrete blocks as weights and concrete mix in 5 gallon pails). My stuff is all 5 gallon pails and concrete and it gets moved around depending where I am working (backyard, porch, garage, living room…). I would also raise your lights strips to be right underneath your shelf board and add some cross braces to the 3 stands. -J

I like the concrete bucket idea how long does it take to dry also the lights are led I hope I can move them up while still sticking

JT-Set time and handling time for concrete depends on mix type (regular or fast) and local temps. I’d just read the outside of the bag and start there. Make sure to grab an all purpose or post setting mix and that you have a way to keep the posts plumb while the concrete sets.

As far as your LEDs go, you could also just add another board to the front of your lights to shade them a bit more if you don’t want to mess with the adhesive on the back of them. -J

Cheap blue tarps from HF can be used instead paint, also helps contain dust.

old thread but i just want to know what is the best method for jointing the wood together on the legs?
