Well last year i shaped a quad fish and i really enjoy riding it because of the pure down line speed i am able to get. It is sorta a Lis inspired shape( i know i said quad so im automatically wrong) with twin pins, down rail, flat to a tiny bit of vee, beaked nose, ect. Alot of people are suprised to see that it is not a keel finned board after they see be ride it. The idea when i shaped it was to get the down line speed of twin keeled fish boards but perhaps make it more snappy and give it a tighter turning radius by breaking up the fins and making it a quad. To some extent the board was a success. I love it because it is supper fast and i am able to turn it pretty well but the turns are still drawn out, unless i completely throw myself into it. I have also started to do some some little airs on it because i can get so much speed. I wannt to shape a board that will haul down the line, but be more snappy and more loose. I was thinking something like a pod or perhaps something somewhat like the ci neckbeard. Maybe a little wider than the neck beard but still have the fat square tail. I was thinking maybe bridge the gap between a mini simmons (which i have shaped also, my second shape) and a shortboard, and make it a five fin convertable. The vernor silver bullet looks kinda interesting but i honestly dont know. Any help/ picture/ ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
How about something similar to a Pavel Speed Dialer, fast down the line and very high performance (turns on a dime). You can also check Manuel Caro’s site for inspiration: www.mandalacustomshapes.com
sounds like you want something like a fish hybrid
big side fins , small trailer

that thing looks sorty like a pod with more foam foward and the wings. it looks sick. I might attempt something like that in the nose cause that nose looks nice and then do a real wide chop square tail. Is that the fin setup for the ci mtf? My friend has one and love the thing
Here you go…mini-simmons tail and shortboard nose in a 5 fin configuration.

FWIW Steve Lis is currently into 4 and 5 finners.

cuttlefish hell yes. that is what i am talking about. do you have the dimensions for that thing
My second shape, took a bit too much off it (5'10" x 22" x 2 1/2 (fixing a warp) but have remade it at 5'10" x 22" x 3" which will float me a bit better... Rode it with quad configuration and damn me its fast, really skaty and a tad slidey, so I popped in the 5th fin (FCS GX) and restored a bit of
sanity, still as fast as all hell and turns on pinhead and flies over
