New speed egg, 8,3E blank, lowered nose rocker, Think it will work?

The original nose rocker of the 8,3 E is 5 and 7/16 I had them drop the nose rocker two inches from center so that I have a low rockered board. What do you think? Is that too much? The rocker will be 3 and 7/16 at the tip of the blank. It should be a real wave catcher. Again, I’m making a speed egg, an 8,3 with green foam and volan glassing. It will have an 18 inch nose, 22 wide, and a 15 inch pintail. Old school, flat deck. So, think it will work for me? 6,1 and 205 pounds. What are your thoughts?

Use all the nose rocker. You may want to bumb it up to around 4.0" when you shape the board. The board will handle the flats beautifully I’m sure. The center measument is a little wide but at 200lbs that’s probably good. The 15" rounded pin will work well. You might conside drawing the nose in a half inch or so. It really depends on how you want the board to perform and what kind of conditions you’ll be riding. Mahalo, Rich

Good idea. In “The Shapemakers” video Terry Chung is shown using a windsurfing blank to obtain the 3 3/4" thickness he was after. Sometimes you have to improvise. At 3 7/16" final nose rocker, you should have room (thickness wise) to flip the tip a little and end up with a fast and functional rocker for your new egg. Keep us posted!

Tri-fin or 2+1 stay with the flat deck…single fin; take thickness from the rails and put in the middle of the deck…nice flowing s-deck with pinched rails, keep the middle rocker flat and give the tail lift instead of curve…
