i have the 6ft 4ins magic carpet and it is a good board ,extremely light and strong the deck has no dings even after 6 months hard use,the outside skin is an opaque white, like white plastic.i don/t know exactly what the core is ,at a guess probabaly polystyrene, the laminate is spectra with vinyl ester resin. i met someone with a tombstone long board a he was really pleased with it also,i think so far this technoligy is the best i have seen in alternative surfboards copy and paste www.tombstonesurf.com if the link does not appear let me know what you think . http://tombstonesurf.com
Sounds a bit fishy, like they’re surftech boards or something. Horribly pricey though, 700 US for a 5’10" fish
I’d still get 2 regular boards for 700 than just 1.
where are you guys shopping? The surftech shortboards in my area go for $425–$550.Longboards run around $600–850 for the wood lam. models
nman: www.tombstonesurf.com check out the prices (use www.xe.com for the most recent currency conversions) those boards are way expensive don’t think they’re surftech but they are rediculously expensive
get a real board from a real board builder. foam and fiberglass. handmade. leave those sissy boards alone.
real men surf and don.t tell others what to ride.We should not get caught up in what materials go into the board that someone is riding.I would rather be in the water surfing than on the beach talking fad and fashion.Custom shapers will survive ,maybe this is their wake up call.
these boards are handmade only the materials are different, they are only a bit more expensive than normal boards here in england ,normal boards £300 or so ,but considering the extra toughness and durability and they come with carbon fcs i don/t think they are over the top,i always think that although the surfing world uses words like radical and extreme, when it comes to change or new materials it is almost afraid. i applaud anyone who is willing to try different construction methods or technoligies, how will we ever progress, just a thought, if tombstone type construction or surftech method had been the norm for years and polyester boards had just come on the market would you be happy to buy a board that dinges as soon as you ride it ,turns yellow in a year the deck delams and then generally looks crap after 2 or 3 years. http://tombstonesurf.com
Good points, Peter. Apparently some folks got the “new tech” in your heading confused with “Surftech.” As is obvious on the website, they are hand shaped.
